My pick for this week’s Tune in Tuesday is “Just Stay” by Kevin Devine. I really like the entire album, Put Your Ghost to Rest, but in my opinion this song is the standout. I love the slow build of intensity throughout the song, to the point where he’s almost screaming at [2:18] and following. Something about this song is cathartic for me; it makes me feel sad in a good way, if that makes sense. Anyway, here it is — hope you enjoy!
I haven’t heard Kevin before but I really like his sound. And yes, the sad in a good way thing totally makes sense to me!
Glad you enjoyed! I am listening to your Gaslight Anthem picks as I type this. 🙂
This is new to me. The voice reminds me of someone I have heard before yet I am not sure who. Maybe I have heard another song by this artist :s hmm that’s going to bug me until I figure out who it reminds me of lol. Thanks for sharing 😀
Haha, well, sorry to bug you! 🙂 I don’t really know how famous Kevin Devine is — I heard about him through a friend several years ago — but I don’t think he had any radio hits or anything.
“Sad in a good way” makes total sense to me…. And I’m with you—this song definitely elicits that sort of a reaction! It’s a perfect sort of mellow at the start and then it kind of explodes with emotion towards the end. I love it!
Explodes is the word — great way of putting it!
